  • Our two buildings are directly across the street from the University of Minnesota campus. We overlook the Land O’Lakes Center for Excellence athletic complex.

  • Our company is owned and operated by longtime, local residents Greg and Emily Jansma. They and their 5 kids live in SE Como – just blocks from Northstar Dinkytown.

  • You have the option of 2bd/1ba, 2bd/2ba, 3bd/2ba, 4bd/2ba, and 5bd/2ba apartments with a variety of prices.

  • We highly recommend seeing the exact apartment you will be renting prior to confirming your lease and we are always happy to show off our units! You can book a tour by emailing jane@northstarsf.com or on our website.

  • We never charge an application fee.

  • Yes, we have both indoor and outdoor, reserved parking spaces for an additional fee.

  • We have secure access buildings, locks on both the apartment entry and bedrooms, and security cameras in all common areas. Our location on a dead-end road, separated from Dinkytown, lends itself to a secure environment.

  • Our maintenance staff prides itself on being able to address maintenance requests within hours (sometimes minutes). Owners, Greg and Emily, live in SE Como — only a few minutes from the Northstar. All residents will have their mobile phone #’s in case of any emergencies outside of office hours.

  • Rescission allows tenants to sign a lease and secure an apartment. They then have 48 hours to rescind (back out of) the Lease if they determine the living situation is not a good for them. If the Lease is rescinded timely, the contract is void and any fees paid by the tenant will be refunded in full.

  • Residents should budget $50-$70/month for utilities.

  • An exercise area is located in each building and available 24/7. Both rooftop patios have gas grills and seating or lounging options. The skydeck has a firepit and couch perfect for comfortable gatherings. Management hosts breakfast each Friday during the school year and social events such as catered dinners, Pi(e) night, and baseball cookouts.

  • Neither the resident nor their Guarantor will ever be responsible to pay their roommate’s rent. Each resident will complete a separate Financial Addendum to the Lease Agreement. The Lease is not “joint & several” meaning the resident is only responsible to pay their portion of the total rent. Each resident’s portion will be clearly defined on the Financial Addendum at the time the time the lease is signed.

  • Each bedroom includes very comfortable, full-size mattresses and beds for no additional charge. Residents can select either a conventional bed or a very sturdy bunk bed if they are sharing a room.

  • Your deposit is the same as one month's rent.

  • Yes, we require a guarantor. We also accept a deposit of 3x rent in lieu of a guarantor.

  • Leases begin between August 28th and September 1 and end late August the following year.

  • We do not allow pets.

  • Yes. Cost is typically $10-15/mo.

  • You may park your bike indoors for free.

  • Yes, we can put you in touch with a group or individual so you can see if it would be a good fit for you.

  • Rent is due on the 1st of each month starting September 1.

  • Our bunk bed and standard bed options are all full size.
